That the videos flooding social media \u2014 showing masked rioters smashing property, blaring sirens, and terrorizing residents \u2014 are not new, but rather \u201cold footage\u201d from the 2020 George Floyd riots.<\/p>\n
That, somehow, Americans are hallucinating.<\/p>\n
The Democrats\u2019 Favorite Fairy Tale
\nWhen President Trump announced he would deploy National Guard troops to Portland to restore order near federal property \u2014 particularly the ICE facility that had become ground zero for nightly unrest \u2014 Democrats erupted with indignation.<\/p>\n
Their latest talking point was crafted swiftly and repeated endlessly: Trump, they claimed, was \u201crecycling\u201d videos from 2020 to create a false impression of renewed anarchy.<\/p>\n
The message spread like wildfire across liberal media outlets. To the casual news viewer, the implication was clear \u2014 that the president was staging a law-and-order drama for political gain, conjuring ghosts from the past to justify a heavy-handed crackdown.<\/p>\n
But as is so often the case with narratives born inside the echo chamber of partisan politics, reality told a different story.<\/p>\n
The Chaos Continues
\nAnyone with eyes \u2014 or even a smartphone \u2014 could see the truth.<\/p>\n
New videos, posted almost nightly, revealed mobs blocking intersections, vandalizing vehicles, and hurling projectiles near the ICE building. Federal officers had to use barricades to protect staff and visiting civilians. In several clips, protesters openly admitted they were \u201cback for round two.\u201d<\/p>\n
This wasn\u2019t ancient footage. It wasn\u2019t archival. It was ongoing.<\/p>\n

He has provided the security and relief our community needed but was denied by those entrusted to protect us.<\/p>\n

Her words struck a chord across the country. Here was a Portland resident \u2014 not a MAGA activist, not a political operative \u2014 expressing what millions of Americans had been thinking: that leadership means action, not excuses.<\/p>\n

In 1957, Eisenhower famously sent federal troops to Little Rock, Arkansas, to enforce school desegregation after local officials refused to uphold the law. It was a defining moment in American history \u2014 a president using federal authority to protect citizens\u2019 rights when local leadership failed.<\/p>\n
In the same moral framework, Trump\u2019s decision to deploy the National Guard to Portland is not authoritarianism \u2014 it\u2019s intervention in defense of law-abiding citizens whose local government has abandoned them to mob rule.<\/p>\n
The parallel is not only striking but intentional. It reframes the narrative from \u201cTrump sending troops\u201d to \u201cTrump restoring order.\u201d<\/p>\n
And that\u2019s precisely what terrifies the Democrats.<\/p>\n
The Political Theater of Denial
\nPortland\u2019s Democratic Mayor, Keith Wilson, wasted no time attempting to downplay the chaos. Standing at a podium surrounded by sympathetic reporters, he smirked as he declared that the footage Trump had seen \u201cappears to be from the 2020 unrest.\u201d<\/p>\n

The same Portland resident who had publicly thanked Trump released another blistering statement, accusing Wilson of knowingly spreading falsehoods:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Mayor has publicly claimed that President Trump is being \u2018misled\u2019 by 2020 footage. That statement is false.<\/p>\n
I personally filmed some of the footage at issue. The remainder was filmed by other individuals. Every piece of the contemporary footage was introduced as evidence in my lawsuit against the City, and in court, all of it was formally authenticated under oath without objection. In other words, the City itself confirmed on the record that every portion of the footage is genuine.<\/p>\n
For the Mayor now to assert or imply that the footage is from 2020, or that its truth is in doubt, is not simply mistaken \u2014 it is a knowing misrepresentation of facts already established in a court of law.\u201d<\/p>\n
That single paragraph \u2014 \u201cknowing misrepresentation of facts\u201d \u2014 hit like a hammer.<\/p>\n
It exposed the uncomfortable truth Democrats and their media allies desperately wanted to hide: Portland\u2019s government wasn\u2019t simply incompetent. It was willfully dishonest.<\/p>\n
Meet Cloud Elvengrail
\nThough her official name wasn\u2019t released in the first reports, subsequent coverage by KGW suggested that the viral Portland resident may indeed be Cloud Elvengrail, a 40-something woman living in low-income housing across from the ICE facility.<\/p>\n
Her story paints a chilling picture of life inside a \u201cprogressive\u201d city that prides itself on tolerance yet tolerates nightly harassment of its own citizens.<\/p>\n
According to her lawsuit against the City of Portland, Elvengrail described her home \u2014 situated at Gray\u2019s Landing, near the ICE building and a Tesla showroom \u2014 as being turned into \u201ca torture chamber.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sirens. Bullhorns. Buzzers. Fireworks. Revving engines.<\/p>\n
The noise, she said, was so unbearable that one night she felt intense pressure in her left ear \u2014 and when she reached up, her finger came away bloody.<\/p>\n

\nThe story unfolding in Portland isn\u2019t just about riots. It\u2019s about who gets to define reality.<\/p>\n
