Last year, King Charles disclosed with the public his\u00a0cancer diagnosis, sharing that he\u2019s been receiving treatments in London.<\/p>\n

While he cleared his schedules and postponed certain royal engagements, it was mostly his wife Camilla and his son William who stepped in for him.<\/p>\n

Although not much is known of the type of cancer King Charles has been diagnosed with, the public was glad he returned to his royal duties after spending certain time out of the spotlight.<\/h3>\n

Back in April, a source close to the family told\u00a0Woman\u2019s Day\u00a0<\/em>that Charles has long ago \u201ccame to terms\u201d with the fact that he won\u2019t be ruling the country for many years.<\/p>\n

The source added: \u201cAs devastating as it\u2019s been, he\u2019s had to step away from some of his plans or leave them to William. He has no choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cCancer has changed him, made him reassess what\u2019s important, and there\u2019s no one he\u2019d rather spend his time with than\u00a0Camilla. Stepping aside could be what gives him more time with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, while the relationship between Charles and William appears picture-perfect from the outside, an insider reveals that there is more to it than meets the eye.<\/p>\n

According to royal expert Rebecca English, staff have overheard arguments between King Charles and Prince William so tense they penetrated the \u201cthickest castle walls.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHarsh words have been exchanged in the past, angry rows permeating even the thickest castle walls, sometimes within earshot of staff,\u201d English wrote for the\u00a0Daily Mail.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere have also been clashes of opinion on the professional side, such as the retention of ivory treasures in the Royal Collection (William wants to burn them, Charles believes they should be kept as historical artefacts), which not so long ago resulted in a \u2018frank\u2019 exchange.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreover, a royal aide recently told the\u00a0Standard<\/em>\u00a0that Charles and William have a \u201ctricky relationship that goes far back.\u201d<\/h2>\n

They added that William \u201cnever phones his Dad directly but has to schedule a call through the King\u2019s private office.\u201d<\/p>\n

While that might sound concerning, Rebecca English pointed out that, according to her sources, these angry rows haven\u2019t escalated in recent years.<\/p>\n

Katie Nicholl explains that for William, the day he ascends to the throne is drawing nearer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe crown will never have felt closer to the Prince than it does now,\u201d she told\u00a0The Mirror.<\/em>\u00a0\u201cHis father\u2019s illness has been a stark reminder that it\u2019s his turn next, and it may not be too far in the distant future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWilliam has mastered that all-important skill of diplomacy, and though he\u2019s visited many politically sensitive areas like the Middle East and Ukraine, he\u2019s never been accused of being overtly political,\u201d she added. \u201cThe aides I\u2019ve spoken to and those who know him best say he is absolutely prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n

Royal commentator Sally Bedell Smith told\u00a0People<\/em>\u00a0that King Charles has to \u201caccept limitations\u201d during his cancer treatment,\u00a0The Sun<\/em>\u00a0reported.<\/h3>\n

\u201cAlthough the King is carrying out his duties with typical determination, he has had to accept limitations during his cancer treatment,\u201d Bedell Smith said. \u201cAs a result, William has been taking on more responsibilities, and he and Kate have been preparing for their future roles sooner than they would have expected.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to experts, \u201cabdication would be a significant departure from all tradition.\u201d

Hilary Fordwich, a royal expert, argued with\u00a0Fox News<\/em>\u00a0that when the last time a monarch abdicated, Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s uncle, Edward VIII, it triggered \u201ca constitutional crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

British royal broadcaster Jonathan Sacerdoti told\u00a0Fox<\/em>\u00a0that it is \u201cunlikely\u201d that King Charles will step away from his royal duties any more than \u201cstrictly necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, he is not a youngster, and the example of his late mother\u2019s older years shows that, when needed, the royal family can accommodate sharing the burden, if necessary,\u201d Sacerdoti said. \u201cBut just as Queen Elizabeth II continued to work well into her old age, and even when she was not entirely healthy, I am sure that the king will want to do the same and keep going as much as is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKing Charles will never abdicate through his own volition, especially as he has waited a lifetime to become monarch,\u201d royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told\u00a0Fox News Digital.<\/em><\/p>\n
